The Jaguar XJ6 was launched in 1968 at the Earls Court Motor Show in London and was the last big cat to be introduced under the leadership of the company’s founder Sir William Lyons. The XJ or experimental Jaguar had to be a car to wow audiences as it was a completely new concept to take over were all other luxury saloons built by Jaguar had left off. It was slim and elegant with the 2.8 or 4.2 litre straight six XK-Series engine providing excellent all round performance capable of speeds over 120 mph being much more powerful than the 420 and S Type predecessors.
