  • TVR Tuscan (1999–2006) — the Speed Six inline-six at its most dramatic

Most Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need specialist insurance for my TVR?

Yes. Standard motor insurance policies are not designed for TVR ownership. They typically won’t offer agreed value, won’t cover your modifications, and may not reflect the specialist nature of TVR repairs. A specialist policy from Heritage is built around how TVRs are actually owned and used with agreed value as standard, modifications covered, and underwriting by people who understand the car.

What is agreed value and why does it matter for a TVR?

Agreed value means you and Heritage agree a fixed sum insured at the start of your policy. If your TVR is written off, you receive that full agreed amount, not a depreciated market value that an insurer has calculated after the fact. For a TVR, where values vary enormously by model, specification, and condition, and where prices have been rising significantly in recent years, agreed value is essential protection.

Will Heritage cover my TVR if it has been modified?

Yes. Modifications are covered as standard in Heritage TVR insurance policies. You should declare all modifications when requesting your quote so we can ensure they are properly included in your agreed value and cover terms. Common modifications includes, engine upgrades, brake improvements, suspension changes, exhaust modifications are a normal part of TVR ownership and will not disqualify you from cover.

Does my TVRCC membership get me a discount?

Yes, We offers up to 15% discount for TVR Car Club members. Let us know your membership details when you request a quote and we’ll apply the discount. Membership of the TVR Car Club also signals to insurers that you’re an enthusiast owner who takes proper care of their car, which can work in your favour beyond the headline discount.

Can I get laid up or SORN cover for my TVR?

Yes. Heritage offers laid up and SORN insurance for TVRs that are being taken off the road — for winter storage, restoration work, or any period when the car isn’t being driven. This covers your TVR against fire, theft, accidental damage, and flood while it’s not in use, at a significantly lower premium than a full road policy.

Can I drive my TVR in Europe on a Heritage policy?

Yes. Heritage classic TVR insurance includes up to 90 days of European driving cover as standard. This means you can take your TVR to France, Germany, Spain, and beyond without needing to arrange separate continental cover for most trips.

Is there a mileage limit on Heritage TVR insurance?

Heritage offers limited mileage discounts for TVR owners who use their car predominantly as a weekend or leisure vehicle. If you drive fewer miles, your premium should reflect that. Speak to the team when requesting your quote and we’ll find the right mileage option for how you use your TVR.
