‘I think everybody has a calling in life. When I was a young boy, I wasn’t particularly interested in school like the other kids. Everything that I know, I’ve taught myself. I think it’s just the way people are, you become good at something in one way or another. I’m good when it comes to car bodywork, that’s my calling.’

After a friend of Mr Gerrard’s told him about a Ford Consul for sale in Westhoughton, he went to view it and ‘just fell in love’. He’d been looking for a Consul for a while and felt disappointed when his offer was rejected, although this didn’t stop him searching for his dream car.

Four years later, he spotted a beautiful red Consul up for sale in Cumbria. He went to view it and, much to his surprise, realised it was the exact same car. He has been the proud owner ever since.
